America's New Hero's

Memorial Day dates back to the Civil War when Senator John A. Logan presented a resolution to Congress: "The 30th day of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet church-yard in the land. In this observance no form of ceremony is prescribed, but posts and comrades will in their own way arrange such fitting services and testimonials of respect as circumstances may permit." With this declaration in 1868 Congress established a date in which we pay tribute to those men and woman brave enough to give their lives for our country. This year is especially poignant as it marks the 60th Anniversary of D-day; when our country joined forces to battle against Hitler's 3rd Reich.
